Relationships

Relationships are our connection with people based on the vagaries of emotions that we share with that particular person. They can be as fickle or as strong as we want them to be, basis the amount of care, love, energy and understanding we invest into it. Our relationship with every other human being revolves around our own expectations and needs out of that particular relation, rather than anything else. No relation is perfect, neither is any human being, it is our acceptance, acknowledgement and understanding that helps nurture and develop a relation. The moment we get into a relationship with pre-determined and pre-fixed thoughts out of that particular relation, we do the biggest dis-service by ensuring that, that particular relation will never be able to blossom, as we do not leave any leeway of thought and any leeway of compromise required to understand and articulate that relation, to truly develop and nurture it into a resplendent one.

Relationships are not constant. They change with the course of time and it is only our patience and our understanding that give them time and emotions to evolve into its best possible form. Relationships between two people can be extremely fickle, if they both have their self esteem extremely close to their hearts, hence it is always advised that we do not rush into any kind of an unparliamentary conversation hurting the sentiments of either of the two. Such conversations might give a solution, however that would be extremely short-lived. Moreoever the amount of hostility and abomination it may cause may be permanent, leading to an irreparable damage. It is important to realise that one must have honest and fruitful relationships with people than to actually have one. A relationship, be it with your parents, with your siblings, with your wife or even with your colleagues must be nurtured and nourished individually in a way that there is no scope of any kind of misapprehension or misinterpretation. An open and honest relationship ensures that you are confident and happiest in every situation of life, without having to think about things that do not stand any significance in the real and spiritual world. Your state of equanimity is what guides you to ensure that your expectation out of every relation is in its minimalistic form and you enjoy and look forward to the company rather than just the mere presence of that particular person.

Respect for every soul that comes across you and an everlasting openness for people is what brings them close to you. Till the time we enter into any relationship without any pre-conceived notions, with an open heart and a free mind to accept and acknowledge the other person, we are looking at developing and blossoming that relationship into a beautiful one. Marriages are no different and must be given time to truly become an abiding force in which two people overcome and oversee miniscule things to develop the values of love and compassion for each other. As Gandhiji said, a crooked soul does not mean that the entire humanity is to be blamed and there are beautiful souls all around us to cultivate inspiring and true relationships !
