Self Love

Our life revolves around the basic principles of love and compassion. We are a social human being and perceive and project our dreams and aspirations through the lenses of the people around us and the society.  Somehow during this process of evolution, we inadvertently forget self love. Self love is an extremely vital aspect of one’s existence as it is important to realise that it is your desires, your expectations from life, the reasons for your longevity in life that should define and shape up the life that you want to lead and not based on someone else’s or the society’s whims and fancies.

Self love helps you to give direction to your life and the things that you aspire for as an individual. It also gives birth to an extremely important and a residual part of human existence that is Self Esteem. Our self esteem determines how much can we give or take as an individual pertaining to different situations and different aspects of life. Self esteem however must not overshadow or come at the cost of something which is not correct. A prudent and an honest soul knows the thin line that exists between the two and it is important to let go of the same in situations that demand you to be above insult and mockery to achieve the best for your soul and everyone around you. However letting go and forgetting are two different aspects and you must not forget things that did hurt your soul and tormented your self esteem and above all self love. You must learn from them and must resolve not to let that happen again.
If however, your self esteem is again crucified, causing unbearable pain and anguish, you must now respond. It is important to realise that one must, act according to the given conditions around us, however it is also important to realise that one must do whatever is required to ensure that your soul and your body is not plagued by someone else’s abject demeanour again and again. It is extremely important to realise self love and self esteem are factors of life on which your entire world should revolve around.

We have been taught that taking up a fight with anyone for any reason at all is not the best option to pursue, however, one must not forget that accepting and acceding to unjust acts that effect your soul is equally not correct. It acts like a slow poison eating you up mentally and psychologically, until your resentment pushes you to fight the same. Our history and our mythology have also taught us the same, where in Mahabharata Lord Krishna advices Arjun to fight the battle of Mahabharata saying that this is a war of Dharma, a way of righteousness as against Kauravas who had broken rules and laws and hence Arjun would have to save his Dharma by fighting this war. Arjun was also afraid of killing his kins, but Shri Krishna explained him that this war is not about you, this is about the truth and righteousness and that we are all mere mortals and illusions of GOD, thus Arjun mustered the strength to go ahead and fight the war with the chariot being held by GOD himself, Shri Krishna.
This is how Life works and hence we must do everything rightful to ensure that Dharma and Self love prevails in the end.
